A review is less in-depth than an audit, but still provides readers with comfort in the financial statements. There is no assurance given, rather we provide negative assurance with “nothing has come to our attention…” Principles of Inquiry and Discussion with Company personnel as well as Analysis of the financial information to ensure the financial statements are plausible in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles. A review provides business owners and outside stakeholders with a level of confidence that the financial statement are plausible. It is common for outside stakeholders such as banks and passive investors to request a review engagement on the financial statements.
